How the Digital Revolution Has Improved Your Dental Visit

Yes, the digital age is upon us. It is plain to see how digital cameras, movies and music have pervaded our everyday lives. But did you know that this digital revolution has made its way to the offices of progressive dentists like Dr. Dunaway?

One example of this phenomenon is digital radiography. With this relatively new technology, patients are exposed to approximately one-tenth of the radiation received from the standard x-ray. Moreover, in the new process, the chemical wastes produced by the old methods are eliminated.

But not only is the process itself better with digital radiography, the images produced are in higher resolution, thus providing dentist and patient a better view of the teeth. In Dr. Dunaway’s office, you will be able to view your digital x-ray on the computer screen right in front of you as you relax in the chair.

A technology that you are probably already very familiar with, digital photography, is also extremely useful in the dental office. Some patients are surprised when one of Dr. Dunaway’s assistants brings in a camera and asks them to open wide, but they are immediately convinced of its usefulness when they are able to get a good look at any problem areas that might be identified. Our team can use that digital picture to provide you with extremely valuable visual information about your own teeth. And don’t worry—we don’t share these pictures with anyone else unless we have your permission!
